Best suction cup base on the market.

Having tried and owned quite a few different mounts over the years, I found most worthless to just okay. But when I bought a new car and found the ones I had wouldn't work in the new vehicle I wasn't thrilled about the prospect of finding new ones that would. I first tried new dash disc to mount old brackets to, but found them all worthless in the new car as there is nothing but curved surfaces every where and the adhesive on the disc wouldn't stick anywhere. Even tried replacing the sticky stuff with others and still no good.

I then bought a Bracketron model locally (only model available) and gave it a try for the iPhone. While the base stuck well enough the phone kept falling off. So I turned to the internet looking for more Bracketron models and purchased this one for the iPhone. While the phone is a little tight getting in in with the case on, the point is during all the struggle the base never looses it's grip. No base pad required just locate it and lock the lever, it works on slightly textured and slightly curved surfaces and has not let go in 5+ months since I put it in.

I was going to return the first one when I discovered the ball on the base looked to be about the same as the one for my Garmin GPS, the old Garmin bracket fit perfectly on the base and it too hasn't moved or let loose since I put that in.

CONCLUSION: Bracketron's sticky soft suction cups are the best hands down and bar none. The actual holders for devices could use improvement, so be careful about that part. I can't see the wing looking thing I first bought holding much of anything useful, it had no clamps just a half dollar sized sticky spot and two tangs on the bottom. This one for my iPhone does hold it but if you have anything but a very thin case it's a struggle. They do make a universal kit, I didn't buy that since the one I already had worked with my Garmin top bracket, so I can't say anything about how that works. But the ball size is common on them all and if you have a device that has that, just get a cheaper model, use the base and toss the rest! Worked for me.
